THE DAY AFTER

Now is the day after.  The turkey (breast) was cooked, cut up and eaten. I started cooking at 10 AM and called Don to dinner at 3PM.  For all that cooking time, it took us 17 minutes to eat dinner. Next time TV dinners !!!  The meal was really good (even if I did cook it). Don liked it. It got his "Heinz 57 " approval. I was so tired I couldn't move. I baked a pie (pumpkin of course), made mashed potatoes, cooked peas (NOT canned), gravy, a olives and pickle tray, and a turkey breast. Doesn't sound like much, but I sure was tired.  So now we start the race to Christmas.  Forget Black Friday. I DO NOT leave the house the day after Thanksgiving.  I worked 5 years at our local Wally World, answering the phone.  I would not go near any store, but especially WM the day after Thanksgiving. People are crazy.  I can tell you that the prices ARE NOT WORTH THE TRIP.  I saw people steal other peoples carts, take stuff out of other peoples carts. It was unbelievable. I really don't think you could pay me to go near the places. So to all you folks that got up at midnite to go shopping. TAKE A NAP!!! and repeat after me "I will NOT do this next year !!" Amen
God Bless you (and your sore feet)

ANOTHER YEAR OLDER AND WORKING HARD

Well, I am now 63 years old. My oh so sweet husband has either taken me out to eat every day or we have bought food that only had to be heated OR he did the cooking this entire week!!! My husband is really a good cook. My special forces take no prisoners super macho daredevil husband really enjoys cooking at home and not just on the grill, either. While he is fantastic on the grill, (I concede quietly and just stand there handing him tongs, seasonings, lemonade, ash tray {yes he started back smoking after stopping a whole year}, whatever book he is reading and wait on him hand and foot like a good wife should and then clean up the 'mess' left behind. But it really is worth it. He grills the best steaks, chicken breasts, ribs, pork loin, etc. But his really good cooking is fried chicken. For a Yankee (that's a non southerner) he does really really good fried chicken. I will try to get a pic of his chicken this week.
He just informed me that my birthday week is over now. We went to Wally World and their can pumkin has finally come in (we bought 8 large cans today) and my sweet toooth husband informed me that tomorrow I have to bake a pumkin pie (his all time favorite dessert) **** with a 'from scratch' pie crust**** . I guess my 'cooking holiday' is really over. We also bought the makings for oatmeal cookies (hummmm good), too.
Guess I will have to get the aprons back out.
Well, I guess that is about it. He just came thru to tell me it is his turn to get on the computer.
Dear God, please watch over all of us.
